Arrest Warrant Issued for Man Involved in Gunfire Celebration

KAMPONG SPEU: The Kampong Speu Provincial Court has issued an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Kang Daravichai for his alleged involvement in celebratory gunfire on Kirirom Mountain last week.

According to the order of Investigating Judge Seng Rithy, the man is being charged with unlawful use of firearms, explosives and ammunition following the confessions of four other partygoers. The arrest warrant states that the accused was charged with a felony punishable by law and noted that the suspect had fled after committing the crime. The prosecution is demanding his arrest to complete their investigation.

A spokesperson for the Prosecutor's Office said that a party started on November 11 at about 4:30pm at Teafarm in Thmey Village. According to their report, a group of about 20 people gathered to drink, sing and dance, when the revellers began celebrating by firing guns in the air until 6am the next morning. When authorities showed up, the partygoers fled the scene.

Four suspects are already being held while police search for the remaining partygoers. They are all being charged with unlawful use of firearms, explosives and ammunition according to Article 20 of the Law on Firearm Control. Over 200 ammunition remnants have been sent to the investigating judge for legal proceedings.
